Back in December 2009, a family from Chanderi in MP made the headlines. The reason being, they had a surprise visit by the cast of 3 idiots – Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Both stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor reached the mud-and-brick house as a promotional visit for 3 idiots.

During this visit, Kareena and Aamir spent hours with the family, and they also sat down with them and broke bread with the family.

Aamir Khan purchased two sarees from Kamlesh, each for Rs 25,000. He gifted one of the sarees to Kareena.

As per different sources, Aamir had made tall claims during the visit. He promised to make a showroom in Mumbai where weavers of the village could directly auction or sell their products. At the time, the 3 Idiots’ actor had even given Kamlesh Kori his gold ring and made him his ‘friend.’

Popular paper Bhaskar claimed that Aamir Khan had even written a letter thanking Kori and his family for hosting them. He shared his number and asked Kori never to hesitate to make a phone call for any sort of support and assistance.

Here’s the video of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan visiting Kamlesh Kori and his family in Chanderi in 2009.
When these Bollywood stars visited this family, the family became popular overnight.
Fast forward to 2022: A few months back, Bhaskar.com reported that Kamlesh’s family is struggling miserably. Like the whole world, COVID-19 proved difficult for Kori’s family too. They are struggling to make ends meet after Kamlesh Kori’s demise in 2021.
During the second wave, Kamlesh got infected with Covid-19 and succumbed due to medical complications and lack of proper medical assistance.
Quoting Kori’s wife Kamla Bai, Bhaskar.com claimed that the family members are forced to make Beedi earn a livelihood. Kori’s son and a daughter had to drop out of their schools as Kamla Bai could not pay their fee.
“He (Khan) gifted him (Kori) a gold ring with an AK written on it. I still have that ring as it was a memorable day of our life. After him (Kamlesh), we have been facing an acute financial crisis. I am not able to weave Saari. Therefore, I make Bidi earn a livelihood,” Kamla shared with Bhaskar.com.
Kamla also recalled that Kamlesh had tried to contact Aamir Khan on the given mobile number, but no one ever responded or called back.
We hope Aamir Khan stumbles over the story of this family and takes some steps to save them from such a plight. This is so heartbreaking to hear!
