In light of the recent cases of minor rapes and child abuse, the parents in India are struggling to understand what places are safe for their kids.
Schools, once considered as a safe place, are not so anymore.
And, if you still believed it was, then the recent news of a 10-year-old girl being allegedly raped by a 38-year-old sweeper inside a civic body-run school in the capital city of India will be an eye-opener for you.
According to the victim’s complaint, the incident happened when she was leaving school on February 5. At that time, the accused asked her to sit at a place.
As per senior official,
“After some time, he then moved her to another seat and then forced this 10-year-old innocent girl against the wall to rape her”
The officer further added that:
“The accused then threatened the girl of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone”
However, the victim later gathered the courage and narrated the whole incident to her relatives as her parents live in Bihar. After hearing the story, the relatives of the victim approached the police on Saturday and filed a complaint.
The case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The increasing number of rape cases shows how our social DNA has degraded.
A man without morals is like a wild beast in the world, who will destroy everyone to please his own pleasures.
It doesn’t matter to him whether she is a 40-year-old woman or a 4-year-old girl. Whether she is the daughter of a driver or the daughter of a well-reputed professional.

And, when social DNA degrades, only harsh punishments could help any society to discipline its own citizen.
We have reached to a point that we believe only harsh punishments will send a strong message to society!
It will warn the sex addicts of the consequences. It will tell them that we have sacrificed many young kids in the past in the name of sexual abuse, but we won’t sacrifice them anymore!
Parents are struggling with the most horrific question of how to protect the innocence of their kids and their childhood. Doesn’t matter if you have a son or a daughter, you always feel threatened about the safety of your child – you always feel scared that there is a predator waiting to take away their innocence.
Wish our country invests time and energy to enhance the DNA of our society so that at least our kids can roam freely and fearless in this country.
At I FOR HER, after hearing multiple stories about child sexual abuse, we are struggling to answer some questions and would love to hear your thoughts:
Do you think in case of sexual abuse at school, the school administration should be held accountable and put behind bars?
As it happened in Government School, it says a lot about how much control our government has when it comes to child abuse? Does it shock you or scare you?
Do you think that the government needs to run awareness sessions at grass root levels so that each and every citizen, irrespective of the social status, know about child abuse and the punishments that come along?
You can write to us and share your precious thoughts.
(In alignment with the POCSO Act, I For Her cannot reveal the names of the school or the victims.)
