Within hours of the news of the shameful and horrific rape-murder case of Hyderabad veterinary doctor, a minor girl has been gang-raped in Vadodara, Gujarat. Police have launched the investigation, but are yet to find the accused.
No one can deny that we live in a doomed society. Every day we are shaken by news of sexual abuse faced by our daughters and sisters.
The recent incident in Telangana where a veterinary doctor was raped and killed has completely shaken the nation. While we were still trying to understand what happened in Telangana, a 14-yo girl became the prey of two predators in Vadodara, Gujarat.
So What Happened
As per the police, the girl was learning to drive with her friend at the Navlakhi Ground in Moti Bagh area when the incident took place. This is when two men approached them and started threatening. They chased the friend away and forcefully took the girl towards the other end of the ground. Here they took turns raping the girl.
The friend immediately ran to the nearest PCR for help. When the police reached the crime scene, they launched a search operation and found the girl behind a thick set of bushes, covered in blood.
She has been admitted to the hospital. As per the reports, medical examination has confirmed that the child was raped and the accused thrashed the girl badly after sexually assaulting her.
While the police search is still on for unidentified accused, at IFORHER, we are saddened, shocked and feeling hopeless. We couldn’t stop wondering how many Nirbhaya and Disha will lose their lives before any stringent rape laws are executed.
The Question
We have to ask ourselves is how sex-deprived our society is, that every single day about 100 women are raped in our country. When will this stop and when will our women feel safe living in India?
