Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji actress Sejal Sharma committed suicide on Friday. In a suicide note, Sejal stated that she was taking the extreme step due to personal reasons and nobody should be held responsible for the suicide.
25-year-old television actress Sejal Sharma was found hanging from the ceiling of her rented flat in Royal Nest society at Mira Road. As per an official, her body was discovered by a friend in the early hours of Friday. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.
The police have found a suicide note in which Sejal mentions that she is committing suicide for personal reasons and no one is to be blamed for her death. The news has come as a shock to her close family and friends.
In Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji, Sejal was seen in the role of Simmi Khosla, lead actor Ansh Bagri aka Rocky’s adopted sister. The show was Sejal’s first TV project and she had previously featured in many TV commercials and a web series.
Another actor from the show, Aru K Verma, confirmed the news to the ToI,
“Yes, this is true. I am shocked to hear the news. It’s very difficult for me to believe as I had met her just 10 days ago and we had even chatted on Whats app on Sunday. I am unable to come to terms with the news. I met her 10 days back and she was absolutely fine. We hadn’t met since last three-four months as I had also gone to my hometown, so when we met 10 days ago, she looked perfect. Her family discovered the news today morning, but I think she committed suicide yesterday night. Her family has taken her body to Udaipur for her last rites.”
This is the second news of a TV actor committing suicide within the month. Another actor, Kushal Punjabi committed suicide on December 26, 2019, and was found hanging at his Pali Hill, Bandra residence by his friends.
In another report, Sejal’s co-star Nirbhay Shukla mentioned that Sejal’s father recently suffered a heart attack and she was under stress because of that.
“Sejal was mentally stressed due to her father’s health. I had texted her on November 15 to meet and she replied to me saying that she was travelling to Udaipur for a medical emergency. I asked her what had happened and she replied to me saying that her father had got a heart attack.”
While we can’t bring back Sejal or Kushal, what all of us can do it prevent suicides amongst our loved ones. It is understood that suicides are typically an outcome of mental stress or depression.
As shared by Dr. Tank with Indian Express, some of the most common signs that a person having a suicidal tendency might show are:
#1 Consistent low mood with loss of interest in activities that one previously enjoyed #2 Withdrawal into self #3 Feelings of hopelessness, guilt and worthlessness #4 Possible substance use #5 Talk about harming oneself *These are not an exhaustive list of signs of depression. They are just some of the many early signs of depression.
If you know anyone who is struggling with these signs, we suggest you talk to the person immediately. And help her/him get medical help.
