It is heartbreaking how even in 21st century, women are harassed and abused by their in-laws . But what is even more painful is the fact how, more than men, women are themselves the reason behind the harassment of other women!
Our heart broke when we stumbled over the heart-wrenching news of how a 41-year-old woman, living in the posh society of Ahemdabad committed suicide on Thursday. While the country was busy celebrating the Goddess Durga, Krupa Patel, mother of two daughters aged 22 and 16, committed suicide by hanging herself in the house after a prolonged fight with her in-laws over “detention of her husband” and a property dispute, said the police officers.
Krupa Patel was found hanging by her younger daughter Yana, who informed police about her death, said inspector J B Agrawat of Satellite police. As per the police, there were various reasons which might have led to the suicide.
Inspector Agrawat also said that there were various reasons which might have led to the suicide, but she didn’t mention anything in her suicide note. As per the sources, the police recovered her body and sent it for postmortem examination. Police mentioned that her elder daughter Devanshi has been staying in the US and her father-in-law C P Patel was a retired collector.
Krupa Patil’s Heartbreaking Last Words
But, what shook us even more, was the details mentioned in her suicide note. As per TOI, in her suicide note Krupa mentioned: “I wish that all remain happy. I know that too many persons will be very happy with my suicide and some will be very sad.”
She further added, “One thing is definite that Devanshi and Yana will become orphans after my death as they would lose both mother and father. So, my land located in Telav and Khodiyar should be handed over to my daughters.”
Speaking about her father-in-law, she mentioned, “CP Pappaji, this was the last wish of your Chirag and his wife that our daughters should remain very happy in their life like your daughters Kavita and Parul. If you do that, my soul will get peace.” Mentioning her parents, Krupa said, “Please take care of my parents, I was their only daughter who would not be alive very soon.”
Referring to her mother-in-law, she says in the suicide note, “Thanks Neeru Mummy, this is your birthday gift from my side. This is Kavita’s happiness also and perhaps yours too.”
Krupa Patils’ Trauma & Misery
In November 2019, Krupa filed a petition before the Gujarat high court pleading to bring to court her husband, who had lost memory after an accident that occurred on December 31, 2018. In her complaint, she mentioned that her in-laws do not permit her and her daughters to meet Chirag.
As per the sources, Krupa tried really hard to file an FIR with the police in 2018 & 2019 on two different occasions. She reached out to police with applications regarding criminal intimidation and harassment at her house by her in-laws, but her applications were never converted in FIRs.
It breaks our heart just thinking about how much helpless Krupa must have felt that she was left with no other choice but to give up on her life. How disappointed she would have been with life and the people around her that she left her two daughters alone.
While the investigation is still on, we hope Krupa’s two daughters – Devanshi and Yana – will get the courage to bear the burden of their mother’s loss. And, authorities would soon get into action and provide justice to Krupa and her daughters!
