Life of a single mother is never easy!
Being judged by society all the time, she has no other option but to make herself more courageous and strong.
Recently, a single mother, 35, survived a horrific attack that not only shows her courage but also shows how inhumane and cruel our society is.
What Happened?
As per Times Now, the woman, a widow & a mother, in her complaint to the police said that the accused (42) barged in her house when she was alone at home.
She claimed that the accused raped her and then set her on fire.
But, she grabbed him tightly so that he couldn’t escape from his deeds.
She became her own hero to avenge herself.
The horrific incident happened in her home north of Kolkata when her daughters were out on Monday.
As per Times Now, when the locals noticed smoke coming from the woman’s home, they rushed to her rescue. On finding the man and the woman engulfed in flames, the locals rushed them to the hospital.
While the woman is being treated for her burns, the man died on Tuesday morning.
Though an investigation is underway, the police have spotted a jar of kerosene in the room. The police shared with NDTV that they are also trying to find out why the deceased was at the woman’s residence, which was about 35 kilometres away.
District Superintendent of Police Arnab Ghosh told NDTV: “We are investigating the case from all angles.”
Increased Cases Of Rape: What Could Be The Reason?
While the whole country is preparing for the Women’s Day celebration, the stories like these make you wonder how much we really care. The whole country is struggling with the spike in sexual abuse cases in India, many wonder what’s the reason behind the surge.
Recently a publication reported that an increase in sexual violence in India is linked to alcohol and porn.
In this report, Dr. Rukmini Rao blamed the nation’s rape crisis on an increase of men wanting to “recreate” what they’ve seen in X-rated films. Though she has campaigned endlessly for increased punishment for rape, she does not think the death penalty is the answer. Instead, she argued the growing popularity of porn is a big factor for the increase of rape incidents.
Wish we our policymakers invest time and energy to understand the root cause of increasing rape cases in India and take the required steps.
These incidents make Mother India hang her head in shame as no Mother is safe in her own country.
