While many of us are still struggling to come to terms with the brutal rape-murder of 26-year-old Hyderabad veterinary doctor and Unnao rape victim, there is a heartbreaking trend of minor kids raping younger kids that has started emerging.
With deteriorating family values and easy access to the internet, our society is facing a rape epidemic. Not only women but also our kids are not safe anymore. What is heartbreaking is the fact that educated kids are making younger children victims of their sexual pleasure.
In a shocking incident, a class 10 student was arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old class 5 girl on the school premises. As per the police:
“A class 10 student was arrested in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district on Wednesday for allegedly raping an 11-year old class 5 girl in a school toilet on December 5.”
The police further shared that after the alleged rape, the victim shared that the accused was in school uniform and she could identify him. The medical examination of the girl at the district hospital also confirmed rape.
Investigation officer Asma Parveen said:
“The CCTV footage we obtained from the school was of no help. We took the girl to the school after she was discharged from the hospital. She was able to identify the 16-year-old accused.”
Though the police have booked the 16-year-old for rape under the relevant sections of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, it is disheartening to see how our kids are not safe even at schools anymore. The accused was produced before the juvenile justice board, which sent him to a juvenile home.
In a separate incident, an eight-year-old girl studying in class 2 was allegedly raped by a class 10 student of a private convent co-educational school in Beas town near Amritsar.
Hundreds of protesters on Monday staged a protest against the school authorities. The protesters were demanding registration of a criminal case against the school authorities for its failure to prevent the crime and forcing the victim’s parents not to report the incident to the police.
Where Is Our Society Heading?
With increasing child sexual abuse, many parents are having sleepless nights. And, there seems to be no end to this shameful trend with minor children being easy targets. Today, the only question every father and mother are asking themselves is –
How our society became so inhumane and sex-starved that innocent kids whose childhood was supposed to be stress-free have to be worried and fearful?
The increasing number of rape cases shows how our social DNA has degraded. A man without morals is like a wild beast in the world, who will destroy everyone to please his own pleasures. It doesn’t matter to him – whether they are 30-year-old women or a 3-year-old kid!
Doesn’t matter if you have a son or a daughter, you always feel threatened about the safety of your child – you always feel scared that there is a predator waiting to take away their innocence.
We wish our country invests time and energy to make our society at least safer for our kids. We want our kids to roam freely and fearless in this country.
