It is heartbreaking that even in the 21st century, our patriarchal society abuses innocent women every day. While we proclaim to becoming a superpower soon, we wonder how could we even dream of it if we keep mistreating our women. Here’s one such incident of extreme cruelty that would leave you heartbroken and disgusted.
As per the reports of TOI, in Ahmedabad, a mother of a four-year-old son was brutally beaten by her own husband. She was not only kicked but also her head was banged against the wall until she fell unconscious and had to be hospitalized by her neighbors.
But, what would break your heart is what brought her such an unfortunate fate.
On Thursday, after a hard day’s work, she went out several times on the scooter for helping various family members. But in the end, she forgot to close the scooter lock’s lid after parking the vehicle at home.
While sharing her trauma Manisha told police that on Thursday afternoon, her mother-in-law told her that her pregnant sister-in-law, Bhati, had to be taken to hospital. In order to help Bharti, Manisha took her to the hospital on the scooter and returned at about 5 pm. Then, at about 6.30 pm, she had to go out on the scooter to buy vegetables and essentials and returned at about 7 pm. She parked the scooter in its place at home. But after such a long day, she forgot to lock the scooter and close the lock’s lid.
When Ashwin came home at about 8.30 pm he found the scooter’s lock open. Recalling what happened next, the police official said:
“He went inside and began abusing Manisha. He said if rainwater got into the vehicle through the open lock it would have caused damage. Then he began beating Manisha till she fell unconscious. Neighbours rushed in at her cries of help and brought her to Civil Hospital.”
As per the sources, she was beaten so brutally that she had to lodge FIR from her bed in Civil Hospital on Friday morning. Manisha narrated the tale of domestic cruelty to Kagdapith police.
Though the cops have filed a case against her husband Ashwin Parmar, who works at a private company in Jamalpur, it is heartbreaking how even in the 21st century, our women are subject to such brutality.
Increasing Domestic Violence Across Country
We are heartbroken with the increasing domestic violence against women in India. Last month, in Pitampura, Delhi, amid lockdown, an educated couple had a verbal argument, which turned into domestic abuse after the husband slapped the wife. A similar incident happened in Bihar. In another incident at Bangalore, the husband threw boiling water at his wife because she refused to make him coffee.
Here are details of some of the best NGOs working for women empowerment in India that may help people suffering from domestic violence. In order to handle the increasing cases of domestic violence, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has launched a WhatsApp number to report cases of domestic violence.
At IFORHER, we pray for this woman’s speedy recovery and hope she would get justice soon.
A humble request to our readers: Battling domestic violence is never easy. If you know of someone who is struggling with domestic violence, then we request you to support them and encourage them to raise their voice for themselves. Because a life of dignity and self-respect is everyone’s right.
