In a shocking incident, Swati gave up on her life only after 6 months of marriage. The heart-breaking matter took place in the district of Budaun in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, October 29, 2019.
As per the sources, Swati committed suicide at her home in front of her husband, Govind.
Sadly, rather than stopping her or comforting her, he allegedly encouraged it. And, what would break your heart is the fact that he even took out his phone to film the incident as it unfolded.
The whole incident came to light when the couple’s maid filed a police complaint against the husband for filming the suicide. She also made a complaint against Swati’s in-laws as they were demanding dowry.
As per the police investigation, the couple’s marriage was not only short-lived but also an unhappy one.
According to the sources, the couple had only been married since May 2019. And, Swati’s in-laws regularly demanded dowry. It was their constant harassment for the dowry that pushed Swati to take her own life.
While sharing the horrific details of the incident, the maid mentioned that Govind saw his wife with a rope around her neck and the ceiling fan. But he did not try to stop her. Rather she alleged that Govind filmed his wife as she took her own life. According to the maid, he later shared the footage online.
When neighbors were surprised by Swati’s sudden death, they couldn’t understand the cause of it. Shockingly, Govind had told them that his wife died after suffering a heart attack.
However, the maid mentioned that Swati had taken her own life after spotting injury marks around her throat and on her hands.
The maid mentioned that she came to know about the heart-breaking video after she heard about the suicide footage that had been circulated online.
Post taking the maid’s statement, the police have registered a case against Govind and his family for their role in Swati’s suicide.
SSP Ashok Kumar confirmed that there was a suicide video circulating online and while he believes it was recorded by Govind, a thorough investigation still needs to be conducted to prove it was him.
Even after registering a case, no arrests have been made as of yet.
Though SSP Kumar mentioned that action will be taken based on the content of the video as well as other evidence that they find during the investigation, we are disheartened how even in 21st-century young brides have been harassed for dowry.
