Pedophilia is a psychiatric disorder in which a person is sexually attracted to children.
The 20-year-old was arrested on Tuesday in Uttar Pradesh following a massive manhunt. He was arrested on the suspicion of the brutal rape and killing of a three-year-old girl. But, he has been linked to nine other similar sex attacks.
According to the Times of India, he would lure little girls with sweets before sexually assaulting them. This is a modus operandi of most of the pedophiles.
So, parents please tell your kids not to be lured by strangers as it is the first step to protection.
Police also shared with TOI:
“He told us all he wanted was tasty food at bhandaras (community kitchens serving free food) and young girls to satisfy his lust.”
As per the police, the his first victim was a four-year-old child. The culprit is accused of kidnapping the kid in 2016.
What will make you want him to be treated like an animal is the way he used to treat his victims.
He is accused of using bricks to break the legs of little girls before raping and murdering them. The 20-year-old, Sunil was tracked down by police on suspicion of murder after the body of a three-year-old girl was discovered in Gurugram on November 12.
The three-year-old was raped and a wooden stick was inserted into her private parts and then her skull was smashed with a brick. As per the report, she died from a “head injury with excessive internal bleeding”.
According to investigating officer Sumit Kuhar,
“Authorities were shocked by his confessions as he not only raped and killed three young girls in Gurugram but four in Delhi, one in Jhansi and another in Gwalior in the last two years”.
Sunil reportedly told police that breaking victims’ legs with a brick before raping them was a “ritual that aroused him”.
Mr. Kuhar further added,
“He remembers the rapes, connecting them to the bhandaras (community kitchens offering free food during religious festivals) he had gone to. He chose children who were alone and away from their homes. He told us all he wanted was tasty food at bhandaras and young girls to satisfy his lust.”
Authorities quoted that Sunil may be one of the worst pedophile serial killers “known to Indian law enforcement agencies”.
We are not naive to believe the following steps can absolutely prevent the sexual abuse. But, these steps could be powerful tools to equip young children, who are targeted due to their innocence or ignorance.

- Talk About Body Parts Early: Let the kids know the body parts early as these words help a child talk clearly if something inappropriate has happened.
- Teach Kids That Some Body Parts Are Private: Helps to explain it to kids why mommy and daddy can see them naked, but people outside of the home shouldn’t.
- Teach your child body boundaries: Tell your kids that no one should touch their private parts and that no one should ask them to touch somebody else’s private parts.
- Tell your child that body secrets are not okay: Tell your kids that no matter what anyone says, they can’t keep any body secrets from mummy and papa.
- Tell your child that no one should take pictures of their private parts
- Teach your child how to get out of scary or uncomfortable situations: Tell kids that it is fine to tell an adult to leave if kids feel something wrong is happening. It is always better to give them words to get out of uncomfortable situations.
- Have a code word your children can use when they feel unsafe or want to be picked up: In case kids feel unsafe at home when guests are around or when they are on a play date or sleepover, kids can use a special safety code.
- Tell your child that a body touch might tickle or feel good: Most of the times, the words “good touch and bad touch” are used. But, they could be too confusing as often bad touch doesn’t hurt or feel bad. You can prefer to use the term “secret touch,” as it is more accurate to depict of what really happens.
- And, most importantly, tell kids that these rules apply even with people they know and even with another child.
