She was just 8-years old when humanity failed her.
At the young age of 8, when many of us enjoy riding a bicycle or busy dreaming of growing up, this poor was kidnapped, drugged, raped, tortured and murdered.
The horrific Kathua gang rape case and murder made us remember how we failed yet another daughter after Nirbhaya.
Though the whole country came forward in the support of the victim and her family, it made each one of us question whether:
Will we ever CHANGE?
Will women and girls be ever SAFE?
Will this 8-Yo and her family will ever get JUSTICE?
And, now when the verdict for a horrific case is out, some of us feel that all hope isn’t lost.
As per the Pathankot Court’s verdict:
Six out of seven accused have been found guilty. The quantum of punishment will be announced shortly.
Strictly following the Supreme Court directions, the in-camera trial was conducted on a daily basis. On June 3, the trial was completed. Both the counsels, the prosecution and defense, examined a total of 114 witnesses in a year.

For the eighth accused, the plea is still pending before the J&K High Court where the decision of the trial court has been challenged. The decision was based on the claim that he was a juvenile when the crime was committed.
According to the 15-page charge sheet, the girl was kept sedated for four days before she was bludgeoned to death.
