In the midst of our battle against coronavirus, a heart-wrenching case has surfaced from Kerala.
As per Indian Express, a woman in Kerala who was a tested COVID positive has allegedly been raped by the driver inside the ambulance. The horrific incident happened while the patient was going to the hospital.
Pathanamthitta district police superintendent KG Simon mentioned that the accused, Noufal, has been taken into custody. The accused, who belongs to Alappuzha, worked in the state health department’s “108 ambulance service”.
While sharing the details further, the police added that the accused took the ambulance to a deserted place and raped the woman. The victim later informed the hospital staff, who then called the police.
As per Indian Express, the victim’s statement and the accused’s arrest have both been recorded. She has been provided special counseling at the center where she is being treated for COVID.

But, it is heartbreaking how in these crucial times when we need to collectively fight against coronavirus, women are struggling with abuse of different forms – physical, emotional, and sexual.
