Though a few have accepted that daughters are equal to sons, still many in our son-obsessed society leave no stone unturned in making the lives of the mother of daughter miserable.
And one such family that crossed all the boundaries of shame, told this mother to bring money from her parents to raise the daughter.
So What Happened?
As reported by TOI, in Gujarat a mother has filed a police complaint against her in-laws, accusing them of forcing her to bring money from her parents to raise her daughter.
Kamla Vaghela, a 33-year-old mother from Ahmedabad, lodged a complaint at Mahila Police Station on January 2, 2020. In her FIR, Kamla has accused her husband and in-laws of asking her to bring money to raise her daughter as she had not given birth to a son.
In 2008, Kamla got married to Jinesh and in 2011, she gave birth to a son. And, later when she gave birth to a daughter, her in-laws were not happy with the fact that her second child was a girl.
As per the FIR, being unhappy about a daughter being born, Kamla’s in-laws told her to bring money from her parent’s house to raise the child since she was a girl. Police officers further shared that the mother also alleged that she was being physically and mentally abused on a regular basis and her in-laws even harassed her over petty issues.
She also revealed an incident when she was traveling with her husband to the marriage. And, her husband deliberately jerked her off the bike, leading to serious injuries.
At that time Kamla was admitted to a hospital and she intended to file a complaint against her husband but later changed her mind when her husband not only apologized but also pledged to take care of her.
Because of the harassment, she subjected to, Kamla has started living at her parent’s house since October 2019. Though the investigation is still on, as per TOI, the police have mentioned that they will take strict action against the accused once they have gathered sufficient evidence.
