In a hope to find work and create a better future, a 14-year-old came to Gurugram from Meghalaya last week. She came with a man who promised to her to with a placement agency.
Hardly she knew it would be living the darkest phase of her life.
This innocent teenager was allegedly raped repeatedly by three men over three days and molested by another as per the report. She was held captive and her culprit kept moving her from one location to another, shuttling between Delhi and Gurugram.
With no knowledge of Hindi and English, a senior police officer posted in Meghalaya House acted as interpreter to record her statement.
Sharing the details of her traumatic journey, the police shared:
July 30: The girl started her journey from her home in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills district with Aman, who runs a placement agency that provides maids and nursing assistants.
August 2: The two reached Gurugram and the girl was taken to a house in Rajendra Park where Aman, his brother Lokesh and a few others lived.
August 3: She was molested by Lokesh when she was alone at the house and taken to a house in Chauma.
August 4: Lokesh forced the the minor to drink liquor and raped her.
August 5: She was taken to a placement office in Sector 39 by Ritu where she was raped by the owner and molested by owner’s friend.
August 6: She was taken to a house in Delhi, where she was again raped by the person whose identity yet needs to be established. She was taken back to Chauma.
August 7: Finally she managed to contact a person from Meghalaya whom she had met at the house in Rajendra Park on the day of her arrival.
Salman and Gelsing told police that after receiving her call, they had pressured Lokesh’s girlfriend for the girl’s location. And, then Salman and Gelsing rescued her and brought her back to Rajendra Park. They then approached Meghalaya House.
August 8: With the intervention of a parliamentarian from the northeast, a case was registered against the four men under sections 6 (penetrative sexual assault) and 8 (aggravated sexual assault) of the Pocso Act and Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC at the Rajendra Park police station.
The three men accused of rape are Lokesh, Bhupender and an unidentified relative of Lokesh. The man accused of molestation has been identified as Omprakash Singh.
As senior police officer Shamsher Singh shared with news agency ANI:
“The girl was raped at Rajendra Park by the men a few days back. We have arrested two men – Bhupinder and Om Prakash. A woman named Ritu has also been put behind bars for conspiring against the girl”
Sadly, none of the three accused – Aman, who brought the girl to Gurugram, Lokesh and his relative, have been arrested yet. But the police has assured that soon the culprits will be nabbed.
But, what is heartbreaking is the fact that within a month of including the death penalty in POCSO act for aggravated sexual assault on children, this merciless incidence has come to light.
Even if these strict punishments are not stopping these monsters to prey on our kids.
Many of us, scared for coming generation, tend to wonder what will it take to protect our kids from becoming the victim of these sex-deprived monsters?
After hearing the trauma that this young 14-year-old went through, the whole team at I FOR HER wishes that these culprits are awarded the harshest punishment. We need a strong message could be sent across the whole country so that no kids have to suffer the same fate.
