Living in the largest democracy, it is heartbreaking how women are given rape threats when they raise their opinions. Recently comedian Agrima Joshua became one such victim.
One of her old videos, where she apparently ‘poked fun’ at Shivaji’s upcoming statue in the Arabian Sea, offended a few Shiv Sena leaders in Maharashtra. The comedian not only apologized but also removed her video after Pratap Sarnaik, a Shiv Sena MLA, demanded her arrest.

Just because she put across her opinion, Agrima has become a victim of various abuses and threats from people on social media. But one particular threat made by YouTuber Shubham Mishra has left many netizens angry and disgusted. Shubham recently posted a video on YouTube threatening Joshua of rape for her jokes on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Apparently, Shubham has over 298K subscribers on YouTube and regularly posts videos about trending topics. Recently, a particular video of him threatening Agrima Joshua received so much flak on social media, that he was left with no other choice but to take it down. But what made us celebrate this news is the fact that netizens have started a movement against the YouTuber so that his misogynistic and problematic content gets reported.

The guy abusing/threatening Joshua thinks he is just making a “content”. He already has 34K followers on Insta. He is doing this for more followers. And this is because of likes of CarryMinati/HindustaniBhau. Nothing sells like abuses among ViRaL cOnTeNt mAkeRs.

Following this outrage, NCW has taken cognizance of the matter and tweeted that the organization has requested Gujarat police to take immediate action.

After the reaction from social media, Mishra shared an Instagram post saying that his intention was not to give rape threats and he will further explain this in an upcoming LIVE stream.
At IFORHER, we are heartbroken that our so-called educated countrymen keep failing our women. If we are going to receive a rape threat every time we raise our voice or opinion, then dear society, you have no right to call yourself a civilized one.
P.S. Dear Indian Women, If today you don’t stand for Agrima, you may be the reason why millions of other women will be scared of raising their opinions and voices. Please don’t fail them. Don’t fail yourself.
