How many people send you Women’s Day messages? My guess – a lot!

When you see so many Women’s Day messages flooding social media and WhatsApp, do you let yourself believe that our society has changed? Do you assume that the sad state of Women In India is a thing of past?

If you do, then be aware that it is an illusion then please skip this story for your own good!

But, if you still haven’t bought the lie that media and brands want you to believe in, then this story is for you!

A story of how the basic Right to Live was taken away from a new-born baby girl shows the reality behind the illusion created on this one single day by media & brands.

So What Happened?

In a tragic incident in Hyderabad, a newborn baby girl was found dumped in a secluded place on Thursday.

As reported by The Hans India, police recovered the body of the baby girl in a decomposed state. They are suspecting that the baby was dumped almost 3 days ago. It was the locals who found the infant’s body and informed the police.

After receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot to collect the clues. As per Deccan Chronicle, sub-inspector Venkata Krishna said,

“The baby was a female and newborn. We are verifying whether it was abandoned because she was female or the body was abandoned after death. The body has been sent for autopsy to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary and further investigation will proceed based on the report. A case of suspicious death has been registered.”

Though the police have registered a suspicious death case, they are still investigating whether the body was dumped after the death of the infant or killed by somebody. They are verifying the CCTV footage of the nearby areas to identify the culprits.

But, you can’t stop feeling sad for the baby girl who was never given a chance to see a dream, to live a life.

Women’s Day To Celebrate Womanhood?

This is not the first time or the last time that you are reading the story of a baby girl who was dumped. But, after reading these stories you tend to ask yourself – Do we really need a day to celebrate Womanhood? Why every day is not Women’s day?

The irony is when people who hardly believe in women equality or never leave a chance to shame women, send you women’s day greetings! When you see people sending messages while taking fewer actions in their daily lives on issues- like gender bias, job security, #MeToo, pay parity and many more! We don’t understand why is there just one day to celebrate womanhood? What about the other days?

In case you still believe that we need one day to mark womanhood, then Happy Women’s Day to you!

But, we feel if in a country women are struggling for RIGHT TO LIVE, we need to introspect deeply and ask –

Is Women’s Day a LIE or a REALITY?

Do let us know your thoughts here!
