Child Safety In India: As a parent, we are facing the biggest ever challenge of keeping our kids safe, who are being abused even in schools. Many parents were outraged as a Class-III student was allegedly abused by her principal in Badaun this Tuesday.
With the ever-growing list minor rapes and child abuse, Indian parents are struggling to find safe places for their kids.
What’s worse is that schools, once considered safest, are increasingly becoming the hub of child abuse.
Recently an incident of child abuse was reported in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh, that will make you question the fabric of our society.
According to the complaint, a Class-III student was allegedly abused by her school principal.
As per the IndianExpress report, the principal of a private school called the student was inside his office on the pretext of some work. It was here that the girl was touched inappropriately. After going back home, the girl told her parents about the incident.
The police officer handling the case mentioned,
“On Tuesday afternoon, when the girl, a student of Class III, returned home, she told her mother about the alleged molestation by the principal.
After hearing it, the mother informed her husband. The couple then went to the school and confronted with the principal about the alleged assault.
The parents alleged that the principal denied the allegation and asked them to leave while misbehaving with them.. after which the parents informed the police. We have lodged an FIR and arrested the principal. He was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody.”
The girl’s parents have also alleged that the principal had made inappropriate advances at other girls as well.
The police have registered an FIR under IPC section 354 and relevant sections of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act against the principal.
Even though the case has been registered, the troubling question that every parent is asking themselves is how to protect the innocence of their kids and their childhood, when even the teachers who were supposed to protect them are turning into their abusers.
A Humble Request To Every Parent:
Please stay in touch with your kids and, talk to them about child abuse and what they need to do if they face such a situation.
It is very important for us to prepare them better so that they can fight back the abusers in the most appropriate way possible.
In alignment with the POCSO Act, I For Her cannot reveal the names of the school or the victims.
