In a shocking incident, a case has been registered against a woman IPS officer for allegedly kicking a pregnant woman so hard that it led to a miscarriage.

As per reports, Priya Dey, a 22-yo woman from Odisha, recently shared how a police team visited her house in order to find her husband in a stone-pelting case.
But when the police failed to find her husband, the police thrashed and threatened her.
She alleged that Saumya Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police of Sundergarh, kicked her on her belly.
This led to her miscarriage on July 4.
After losing the child, Priya lodged an FIR against Saumya.
As per the sources, Priya also claimed how she was tortured after she registered the case against the SSP.
She mentioned that the police officers went to her factory and allegedly damaged five vehicles and a machine worth Rs 4 lakh.
Based on the complaint, the SSP has been booked with multiple charges including: 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), 457 (trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 294 (obscene act in any public place causing annoyance to others), 342, 427, 313 (causing miscarriage without woman’s consent), 166 (public servant disobeying law), 503 and 504 of the IPC.
All this started when on July 3, a 19-year-old local youth died as she was hit by an SUV. While demanding the immediate arrest of the driver, the angry locals hurled stones at the police beat house.
Among those who pelted stones at the beat house, the police identified around 14 people including Priya’s husband Uttam Dey.
This isn’t the first time that a police officer is involved in criminal misconduct.
A few days back, Gurgaon SHO was arrested for allegedly raping and then blackmailing a woman by recording an obscene video. He was arrested after an internal inquiry found him guilty.
It is so disheartening to see that the people, who are expected to protect women are becoming their destroyer.
As we mourn the death of this unborn child, we know that the pain of this mother is inconsolable. We hope God may give her enough strength to bear the pain. And, the law punishes the people responsible for her loss.
