In a heartbreaking incident, a 27-year-old veterinary doctor, Disha (name changed) was raped and brutally murdered, while she was returning to her home in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
According to Cyberabad Police, around 8 PM the doctor noticed that she had a flat tire when she was returning to her residence. At that moment, she made a phone call to her younger sister from the toll plaza, where she parked her scooter.
Her sister suggested that she leave her vehicle and take a cab to come home. But, sadly before that two men approached her and offered to take her vehicle and get it repaired.
As per sources, Disha told her sister Bhavya over the phone:
“I started my bike, but they started shouting from behind saying madam your tyre is flat and you cannot go ahead. Though I thought that I can get it repaired at the bus stand, they did not allow me to go ahead. They made me get down and sent a boy to repair it. But he also returned saying all shops were closed.”
As shared by India Today, Disha also told her sister that she was suspicious of the people around her and asked her to keep talking until her scooter comes back.
“You please keep talking until my scooter comes back. They [the strangers] are all waiting outside. You please keep talking to me, I am scared.”
As Disha waited for them to come back with her vehicle, she was ambushed at the Tondupally toll plaza, behind a line of trucks that denied any visibility from the road, the police told reporters.
The cops further added that her body was found burnt at 7 am the next day. While the crime scene evidence suggests rape, it has not been confirmed yet as the body is completely burnt.
Soon after details of the shocking case emerged, people took to social media to express their anger and demand urgent action in the case:
Unless rape cases are fast tracked & guilty are hanged asap, Nibhaya, Dr Priyanka Reddy will keep on happening. It’s high time to install fear in the minds of monsters who commit this heinous crime.
BTW What is the status of Nirbhaya case after 7 years?#RIPPriyankaReddy

What happened to Priyanka Reddy is terrifying and brutal. And could happen to any woman.
Parliament is in session but has spent all day discussing comments made by MPs in parliament and SM.
Hope media makes this a focus issue, no hope from elected representatives.— Advaita Kala / अद्वैता काला (@AdvaitaKala) November 29, 2019
The murder of Priyanka Reddy is blood-curdling. Can we stop garbage people from procreating because they teach their kids nothing & they grow up to become worse than animals. We need a law that requires you to pass an EQ test before you can produce kids. #JusticeForPriyankaReddy

At IFORHER, we are saddened, shocked and feel hopeless. We couldn’t stop wondering how many Nirbhaya and Disha will our authorities let to be slaughtered before any stringent laws are executed. While we hope for the harshest punishment for the accused and pray for strength and courage for her family to bear such a painful loss.
