This story of a brave 22-year-old woman is painful yet inspiring. While she suffered her dad’s abuse in silence, she gathered all the courage to save her sister from the same nightmare.
Recently, a 44-year-old has been accused and booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on charges of raping and sexually abusing his two daughters.
Though the man is on the run, his wife (42) has been arrested for aiding the crime.
So What Really Happened?
The 22-year-old lived a nightmare for 16 years when she was repeatedly raped by her own father. She got pregnant several times but her mother gave her contraceptives.
This girl had resigned to her fate and lost all strength to fight her abuser. But when she saw her father starting to sexually abuse her younger sister, she couldn’t take it anymore. The survivor gathered the courage to raise her voice against the abuse.
As per TOI, on 11th August this 22-year-old survivor not only came out of the hell within her own house but also saved her 14-year-old sister with the help of Asha Jyoti Kendra.
On Sunday members of the Aasha Jyoti Kendra, with the help of police, rescued the survivors from their house.
Archana Singh, in charge of Asha Jyoti Kendra, shared that the survivor was being raped since the tender age of six. While recalling the horrific details, Archana shared:
“Her mother knew about it all along and used to give her contraceptives and medicines to abort pregnancies. She told me that she had accepted the torture as her destiny but could not tolerate it when her father started molesting her younger sister,”
Archana further added:
“The younger survivor told us that her father had been molesting her for the last three years but every time her elder sister intervened and saved her from being raped.
Recently, their father became more aggressive and even started writing them sexually explicit letters,”
And, sharing how these two souls were left alone to struggle by the whole family, Archana mentioned:
“The complainant said that their two brothers (aged 18 and 8 years), the tenant in their house and some of their relatives knew about the actions of her father but no one opposed it. Finally, she mustered courage and narrated everything to her principal who then asked her to contact Asha Jyoti,”
Though the investigation is underway, the complainant went back home while her sister was sent to a government shelter home as she is a minor.
While we are struggling to understand how a father can make his own kids’ life so miserable, it is so disheartening to know that no one – their mother, their brothers or their relatives – raised a voice against the abuse and let these innocent soul suffer in silence.
At I FOR HER, we celebrate this girl’s courage for saving her sister and inspiring other girls who are still suffering in silence.
We hope these sisters get justice, and the accused is given the harshest punishment.
