Last week, many of us were agitated when the screenshot of a group on Instagram called ‘Bois Locker Room’ went viral. It was claimed that the boys in the age group of 15-18 from South Delhi were supposedly sharing pictures of girls without their consent and objectifying them.
Among these pictures were, as is believed, those of minor girls as well. But, the major reason that this blew up into a major controversy was because of one particular screenshot that captured the talk about rape – something that irked many women all over the country.
To everyone’s surprise, what has now been revealed by the cops is that the conversation in which a guy called ‘Siddharth’ is casually suggesting gangrape, never happened on the private Instagram group. Instead, it was a different Snapchat conversation between two individuals, which “coincidentally got mixed up”.
In a shocking twist to the controversy, the Delhi police have informed ToI:
“Among the various screenshots shared in multiple social media platforms, is a screenshot of a one-to-one Snapchat conversation, where a person named ‘Siddhart’ is suggesting a plan of sexual assault of a girl to the other person (receiver).”
The statement continues:
“The investigation has revealed that alleged Snapchat conversation is in fact between a girl who is sending those texts to a boy by using the fake male profile. In the chat, she is suggesting the plan to sexually assault herself.”
The police officials say that the purpose of her sending such chat messages using a fake identity was to check the reaction of that boy and the strength of his character. As per the sources, the officer mentioned:
“Using the fake identity of a male person, she suggested a plan to sexually assault herself. The purpose of her sending such chat messages using a fake, fictional identity was to check the reaction of the boy and the strength of his character, especially when someone talks bad things about the girl herself.”
“The boy, however, declined to participate in any such plan suggested by ‘Siddharth’ and stopped further communication.”
As per the reports, the boy who received these chats not only stopped the conversation but also immediately informed his friends. Among these friends was also the girl herself, since she was the supposed target of the sexual assault plan.
The officer further added:
“When the Bois Locker Room Instagram screenshots were revealed to others and started circulating on social media, the alleged Snapchat conversation also got mixed with it due to its sensational nature and due to its availability in different student groups.”
After coming across this new revelation in Bois Locker Room, many came forward to share their disgust and disappointment:
Shocked by getting the truth behind #BoisLockerRoom ????
Being a girl I feel ashamed on this but it is very true that in today’s world trusting a girl is very hard.

This happened because people these days believe in a new kind of judicial system known as Instagram where you get instant verdicts . #BoysLockerRoomTruth pic.twitter.com/AbkV9MaQ2L

While we wait for more details to surface, we realize the news about the boys’ locker room has started the blame game over the internet and the gender wars – Men Vs. Women.
At IFORHER, we feel it is a high time that rather than blaming the genders, we connect with our kids – sons or daughters to understand them better. Because one thing boys’ locker room has confirmed so far is the ugly reality of our kids being disconnected from us.
