In a recent heartbreaking incident, police head constable has been arrested for killing his own daughter for not studying hard enough. It’s a grim reminder of how parenting stress is destroying lives.
It is heartbreaking to see how a father, who is a police head constable, killed his own daughter, studying in Class X for talking back to him on being scolded for studies. This incident is another reminder that parenting stress has reached a dangerous level.
The horrific details of murder mystery were unraveled after Ved Prakash Singh, the head constable posted in the security department, was formally arrested by Vikasnagar police on Friday.
During the interrogation, the constable made the confession about killing her daughter on Monday. He shared that he killed the child because she wouldn’t listen to him and concentrate on her studies.
She allegedly screamed at her father for asking her to cut short her telephonic conversation with friends.
But, what is even more shameful is how the head constable tampered with evidence with the aim of making it look like a suicide.
The additional DCP Rajesh Kumar Srivastava shared with ToI,
“The head constable has not only been booked for murder, but also for tampering with evidence because he planted his own licensed pistol at the scene of the crime after firing a shot at the wall and tried to make it look like suicide”
Though the victim was admitted to KGMU Trauma Centre with critical head injuries, she did not respond to treatment.
As per the sources, the family told police that she had shot herself with her father’s licensed pistol. However, the postmortem examination showed no bullet wound, prompting police to file a murder case.
The truth surfaced when forensic experts examined the crime scene on Wednesday.
After the examination, forensic experts too stressed that the injuries on the girl’s body were not self-inflicted. Rather, the injuries were caused by a heavy and blunt object. When police found inconsistencies in the father’s statements and those of his family, the police detained Singh on Thursday.
While sharing the horrific details, DCP Srivastava mentioned:
“Following intensive interrogation, the man admitted that he beat up his daughter for not paying attention to studies. He took her to civil hospital in Mahanagar for some primary treatment. After they returned home, she started chatting with someone over phone again and he lost his cool. The girl shouted back at him. In a fit of rage, he bludgeoned her to death with a bat.”
With increasing stress in professional and personal life, the parent-children relationship is becoming more complex. It is disheartening to see how an educated father in a fit of rage could do that to her own daughter.
As we pray for this daughter’s soul to rest in peace, we hope both parents and kids try to put extra effort to understand each other and work on strengthening their relationship.
