In the midst of the country struggling with COVID-19, a heartbreaking incident of a ward boy allegedly attempting to rape a COVID-19 positive woman in Gwalior hospital has surfaced.
As per News18, a ward boy was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a 59-year-old COVID-19 positive woman at a private hospital in Gwalior.
This shameful incident happened at a private hospital under Kampoo thana. While sharing their ordeal, the victim’s family alleged that that the hospital management didn’t take any action even after their complaint. Instead, the hospital authorities assaulted them.
As per the current sources, the ward boy was booked under sections 376 and 354 of the IPC. In the complaint, the family shared how the hospital authorities, and police tried to delay the FIR. It was also alleged that the ward boy and hospital staff assaulted the family members of the victim. The victim’s brother-in-law mentioned how even her niece’s treatment was also stopped by the hospital.
The family mentioned that the woman was admitted to the private hospital after testing Covid-19 positive. Because of her condition, she was on oxygen support. The ward boy molested the women on a couple of occasions on Saturday.
During the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, the accused Vivek Lodhi tried to sexually assault the complainant twice according to her statement. He came to her ward when there was no one else there.
When the woman managed to raise an alarm and called up her family, the ward boy fled the scene.
This incident is another ugly reminder of how unsafe we are in our own country. Be it school, office, hospital or public places, or homes – women are not safe anywhere. It breaks our heart to see how our men have stooped so low that they are making hospital patients also their victims.
As we pray for strength for the victim and her family, we hope authorities would deliver speedy justice along with a strong message to these sex-deprived monsters. We need to stop this before more monsters unleash themselves on our women, kids, and babies!
