Post which, he took her to his house. The accused forced himself on the woman and tried to get close to the woman without her consent. When she resisted, he allegedly hit her with his hands, legs, and shoes before raping her, said The Indian Express.

Based on the complaint, FIR was filed between 4 pm and 11.30 pm. The accused has been was booked under IPC sections 376, 376 (2) (m), 325, 328, 366, 385, and 504.

As per the Senior police inspector Vivek Muglikar of Wakad police station,

“We produced the accused before a court. The court has remanded him in police custody till January 2 for further investigation.”

This incident is just a reminder of how authorities need to ensure that our technology platforms put the right systems in place to ensure women’s safety. In the times, when we hear the women being harassed by food delivery employees or being cyberbullied or verbally assaulted on social media or being assaulted by the men on dating apps, we feel its high time that authorities intervene.

Though the man is in custody, it is heart-breaking how even in the 21st century, our women are not safe. It is so disturbing that how we are still waging a battle to keep ourselves and our daughters safe.
