In the past few days, many celebs have made dumb and stupid statements that left many of us disgusted. After Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor, it’s Ranbir Kapoor who has left many disappointed as he mocked his own wife Alia Bhatt for her weight gain due to pregnancy.
A few days back, Ranbir Kapoor was slammed by the netizens as he mocked Anushka Sharma for her anxiety problem. In an interview, he pill-shamed her for her anxiety. He said, “Anushka is the anxiety queen… She takes anti-anxiety pills even if she has to have a conversation because she is frantic,”
And, now, netizens are once again left disappointed as he cracked an insensitive joke about Alia Batt’s weight gain during pregnancy.
Recently, a clip from an interview went viral where Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt spoke about why they are not promoting their film Brahmastra extensively. While answering the question, Alia Bhatt said, “If you’re asking why we are not phailoed everywhere… right now our focus is…”
Ranbir interrupts her and cracks an insensitive joke. He said, “well somebody has phailoed” looking at Alia’s baby bump. At this point, not only Alia is left dumfound but also Ayan Mukerji.

Pregnancy is a time when many women undergo bodily issues. They face a hard time accepting the changes that their body undergo during pregnancy. And, making such an insensitive joke in a public forum is simply disgusting. As this kind of comment can trigger any pregnant woman, netizens called out Ranbir Kapoor for an insensitive joke.
People are calling out Ranbir Kapoor once again for an insensitive joke.
One Reddit user wrote, “Err, yeah. OK. Honestly, I don’t want to nitpick and criticise Ranbir and Alia every time but main kya karoon. Ranbir, why’d you need to say that phailoed comment on air? Like she has body image issues, she’s heavily pregnant, leave her alone.” Another user said, “I know Ranbir is the type to enjoy those boomer ‘marriage is miserable-wife is stupid’ sms, probably still has a daily subscription. what an insensitive comment, poor Alia’s face dropped! publicly saying shit like this is distasteful.”
“Eh, it isn’t even a good joke. Most women already have a hard time accepting the changes pregnancy brings to their bodies, joking about it is just insensitive.” – a reddit user wrote. “Pheloed pj could have been avoided.” – another said. “Ayan cringed hard on that joke” “That was mean to say that in public or private to his pregnant wife.” – someone wrote.
And, then there were some who thought it was okay to say such mean things. Because our regressive society thinks it’s funny to crack misogynist or sexist jokes. Those who are saying chalta hai, because it’s a matter between a husband and wife, are the ones with the regressive mindset.
No, it is not okay to crack such jokes about your pregnant wife in public or private. No, it isn’t fine to crack such jokes when you are a role model to so many. It is high time that we should start holding these celebs to high standards as they carry a huge influence. Please Ranbir, you can do so much better!
