The Prime Minister’s Slogan “Beti Bachao Beti Padao” received another big blow in the face when 34 girls were mercilessly beaten up by a mob in Bihar as they resisted the sexual harassment attempts of some local boys.
The matter started yesterday when some girls had caught a group of boys sneaking into the Kasturba Residential School, a government institution for girls – 250 km from state capital Patna, and asked them to leave.
Rather than leaving the premises, the boys misbehaved with the girls. And, girls out of self-defense, beat them up, shared one of the eyewitnesses at the school.
What happened after that has not only shocked but scared every girl parent in this country!
[ifh_news_form]After nearly 2 hours, the boys returned with their parents and relatives and barged into the school. The unruly mob surrounded the campus and targeted the frightened girls and teachers.
In a complaint to the police, the Principal said despite requests to calm down, the mob beat up the students and teachers. Later, the injured girls had to be hospitalized. As per News18, they were beaten up with sticks by over two dozen people. The girls — all of them 12 to 16 years old – have been admitted to a local hospital, the police said.
Fir has been lodged but the incident raises a lot of questions regarding the safety of our girls in this country.
Will our leaders stop being deaf, blind and dumb about women safety issues?
Will they recognize the crisis that women in the country are facing?
Do the slogans – Beti Bachao Beti Padao or Betiyan Ghar Ki Lakshmi are just sham?
Are we hypocrites when we say we want to treat boys and girls equally?
If as a parent or women or Indian citizen you are not asking these questions today, then we request you to get up from the slumber before its too late!
