In a heart-wrenching incident of human sacrifice, well-educated parents allegedly killed their 2 daughters for superstitious beliefs.
According to NDTV, the two young daughters – Alekhya (27) and Sai Divya (23)- were killed allegedly by their parents inside their three-storey home in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district on Sunday. The police suspect the linkage of this shocking crime with the occult.
When the friend of the family alerted the police, the police arrived at the house. The parents claimed that they could get back their daughters to life if given an extra day. When police pushed their way inside the home, they found the daughters’ bodies in red saris. They were lying in the blood with their heads allegedly bashed with the dumbbell.
On Sunday evening, the family participated in the ritual, which resulted in the death of their daughters. When asked why they did it, they said their daughters will come alive again after the sunrise — as “kalyuga” will end and “satyuga” will start from Monday.
Even though the parents were highly educated, they still believed their girls were possessed by some evil spirits. The police officer Ravi Manohara Chary told NDTV:
“Naidu is a professor of chemistry and vice-principal at the Government Girls’ Degree College in Madanapalle, while Padmaja identifies herself as a gold medalist, postgraduate in mathematics, who was working at an IIT coaching institute,”
The parents, both in their 50s, have been arrested.
Alekhya used to work at Bhopal’s Indian Institute of Forest Management and had recently resigned to prepare for the civil services exam. Her sister Sai Divya was a graduate and was pursuing music at a Chennai-based AR Rahman institute.
It is scary how these educated parents surrender themselves to superstitious beliefs. This heartbreaking incident shows how even in the 21st century, even educated minds could fall into the trap of such inhumane beliefs.
While we pray for the souls of these daughters, we hope they will soon get justice!
