In India, the way households treat their Son-in-law is quite different from how they treat their daughter-in-law. On one hand, Sons-in-law are blessed with loads of love, care, and respect; sadly, many daughters-in-law struggle for the same things.
Recently, a video surfaced online that made many think – Why we need to change our mindset and treat not only our sons and daughters equally but also their spouses.
In the video, one could get a glimpse of a woman, who cooked a 5-course Andhra meal comprising of as many as 67 items for her visiting son-in-law! The items included welcome drinks, starters, chaat, main course, and desserts.

While some came forward to applaud her gesture, we were thankful that many did call out the patriarchal mindset behind this grand gesture.
Here are some people, who applauded the grand-gesture.
Her son in law must be very lucky to have such a wonderful mother in law.

Wish every man should get a mother -in-law like her.

If one wants to feel the grandeur of being a guest then it’s being a Son-in-Law in INDIA

But thankfully, some felt it is an utter representation of patriarchal mindset:
Waiting for the mum in law who will cook this for the son’s wife! Then all is well

Great cooking feat!

But the reason for it is nothing short of ridiculous.
It’s these kind of very wrong messaging that skews the s*x ratio in India and creates daily living hell for so many unfortunate women born in India.
Let her join master chef instead & show her worth.
What is ‘Wow!’ about this??

It’s ridiculous!
Why should a son-in-law be made to feel like he’s God?
Has he done that family a huge favour by marrying their daughter?
I would like to see what the mother in law of her daughter cooked for her !!! This is so base as a mother she has disgraced herself and undermined her daughter !!!!! Don’t blame patriarchy ever ????????????

Full marks for cooking skills , but it will promote food wastage and also set wrong precedence ..
— dilseInd (@dilseind) July 9, 2020
The son in law should be taught to make all this items as well. So that he can cook for his wife and his parents later.

Great line up – except this pompously elaborate set up doesn’t need to be for the SIL – why does the SIL needs pampered who actually should be indebted forever for the family sharing their daughter – we ourselves let the SIL be this entitled, above God figure !

I want to see atleast 1 mother in law in my lifetime who’d prepare such a feast for her daughter in law.
