In a shocking incident, a mother along with her husband was forced to walk with the body of their 3-year-old son. This heartbreaking incident occurred near the state-run hospital near Patna – where the child died on Friday.
The 3-yo child was suffering from high fever, and cold when the parents took him to the hospital. The doctors referred the baby to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), but the hospital did not provide an ambulance.Â
In a heartbreaking video, which has been widely shared on social media, the mother could be seen crying helplessly. She is carrying her dead son as her husband stand close to grieving mother. In the video, one could hear someone offering help, to which the child’s father says:
“Now we don’t need an ambulance.”
While sharing their nightmare, the child’s father Girej Kumar, shared with NDTV,
“He fell ill two days back. He was having fever, cold and cough. We were consulting local doctors in our village – Shahopar – initially but as his condition worsened, we had to hire a tempo to bring him to a hospital in Jehanabad because we could not get an ambulance due to lockdown.
The doctors at Sadar Hospital in Jehanabad referred us to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) but did not arrange an ambulance for us. It was because of this negligence that we lost our child.
We did not get proper means of transport when it was a matter of life and death because of the lockdown.”
After the death of his son, the man and his wife reached home with the help of some locals while carrying the body of their son in their arms.
This video gathered strong responses across social media, as netizens questioned the lack of proper healthcare facilities in the state.
Amid lock down, a mother carried her child’s dead body and walked miles in the absence of ambulance.

Just saw a video from Bihar of a woman carrying the corpse of her 3 year old child. Unimaginably painful.
Parents say they were denied ambulance.
This is Beyond shameful @NitishKumar.

The district administration has suspended a manager at the state-run Sadar hospital and some doctors have been given a show-cause notice. Naveen Kumar, District Magistrate, Jehanabad told reporters:
“Ambulance has to be provided without any delay to the patients. We are trying to find how this happened.”
At IFORHER, we are heart-broken at what these parents had to go through. Losing your child is never easy. But what they went through is disappointing and inhumane.
While we pray for this 3-YO soul’s to rest-in-peace, we hope our authorities will provide justice to these parents and ensure that no parents have to live such a dreadful reality.
