Recently, Lalit Modi took to social media to announce his relationship with Sushmita Sen. He put a series of tweets to share his happiness with the world.
Just back in london after a whirling global tour #maldives # sardinia with the families – not to mention my #better looking partner @sushmitasen47 – a new beginning a new life finally. Over the moon. 🥰😘😍😍🥰💕💞💖💘💓. In love does not mean marriage YET. BUT ONE THAT For sure pic.twitter.com/WL8Hab3P6V

But as soon the tweets went viral, many netizens started trolling Sushmita Sen. From calling her gold digger to opportunistic, people were quick to judge her for the decision they know nothing about. It was quite shocking how many felt it was their right to judge her decision to be with Lalit Modi.
But, this isn’t the first time that our society malign a successful woman by calling her a gold digger. Be it Kareena Kapoor or Priyanka Chopra or Aishwarya Rai, our society has bestowed the label of gold-digger on many successful women when they chose to be with the man of their dreams. What is disgusting is how people chose to blind themselves to the success and accolades of these women and label them as gold diggers.
Even though Sushmita Sen has been a former Miss Universe and a successful actor, there were many who took to social media to brutally troll her for Lalit Modi’s tweet.
Sushmita Sen dating Lalit Modi proves women are gold digger even if they are Miss Universe

i usually frown upon sexist caricatures but sushmita sen did rein force the trope of the gold digger with a party face whose looks are fading so she need to honey trap a rich old uncle asap because botox can only go so far. pic.twitter.com/8WPkt4EQ4w

These tweets are just another reminder of how much we hate our successful women. It is quite an irony how men don’t face a similar kind of hate when they marry women richer or more successful than them! They are rather being called secure and progressive men for not letting their ego hurt as they marry women more successful than them.
In the past, successful women like Kareena Kapoor or Priyanka Chopra or Aishwarya Rai have witnessed so much hate for their marriage decisions. It is sad how we are ready to blind ourselves to the success of these women and just reduce them to a term – gold digger.
In the midst of so much negativity, there were some sensible tweets in support of Sushmita Sen.
Sushmita Sen doesn’t need to be in a relationship for money. She is an accomplished businesswoman herself. Read better guys 🙏🏻

Dear trolls, Sushmita Sen’s dating decision is hers. Neither you should judge her nor shame her for her personal life decisions. It’s her life. Not yours. What do you think? Tell us in the comments below.
