Yesterday night when the screenshots of a group chat called “Bois Locker Room” went viral on Twitter and Instagram, many parents were left worried and scared for their kids.
The social media blew up with the screenshots in which boys from South Delhi, aged around 17-18, shared pictures of minor girls and objectified them. But, what was even scarier was the fact that this group is, allegedly, one of many such groups that exist.
With over 20 members, these young boys were sharing photos of young girls, passing horrible comments about their bodies, even after knowing that these girls were minors.
The shocking screenshots captured their disgusting comments on girls’ bodies and comparing them. But what left many shocked was the fact that the young boys were making plans for gang-rape.
The saddening realization of how rape culture is so prevalent in our society that even young boys think it’s okay for them to pull a stunt like this.
Though many members pointed out that they were ‘inactive members’ and ‘were added unwillingly’, and their friends (mostly girls) ran to their defense. But the others who pointed out how they choose to stay silent and watched utter trash being talked about women’s bodies without ever calling it out.
After the screenshots went viral, many of these people changed their usernames or deactivate their accounts.
Twitter users shared how they knew some of the people in these groups, how they were schoolmates, juniors, and tuition mates, and were in disbelief of the statements made by them.
Many netizens took to social media to share their disgust:
If true, it is such a disgrace that young boys can feel so entitled and be so demeaning.
This is so sad to see???????? They’re boys still in school!!
This is why it is so important to teach ours sons how to behave as well!#boyslockerroomhttps://t.co/75c1Bx113k— ️Ladeeda Farzana (@ladeedafarzana) May 3, 2020
Scary and numbing!
I personally don’t have words for this. The mindset of these 16-17 year old boys are disgusting. And they don’t have any sort of guilt even all the things are public.

The longer you keep predators like these hidden the more fearless they get about being caught which makes them think that abusive cunts like them could do any shit and probably get away with it, it’s high time we change that. #boyslockerroom #exposepredators pic.twitter.com/7q81hv8lU2

Thread: Students who are 16, 17 years old, are casually talking of gang raping girls and women, swapping nudes without the consent of these women on Reddit, with not even a hint of fear of exposure. The dire crisis of rape womxn face, starts with this rape culture #boyslockerroom

So there’s no stopping these rich ass fuckin disgusting boys. They are not even guilty and are labelling girls calling them out as “feminist r@ndiyaan”, offering ideas to circulate their nudes around!
And why do I see no outrage from men over this? #boyslockerroom pic.twitter.com/HGe22F8Ci5— blopbloopbleep (@vaishalivatsayn) May 3, 2020
Bois locker room is straight up sexual harassment. If you’re even thinking about defending it you’re complicit in every form of discomfort and abuse a girl has faced since puberty, sometimes even before. Stop normalising this under the garb of ‘boys will be boys’ it’s disgusting.

It doesn’t matter if they’re teens or adults, they’ve done a mistake, they got to be punished for it. This is about a few guys who created a group on Instagram and added a few Teenage girls ,giving them rape threats, body shame, objectifying and disrespecting them #boyslockerroom

you know it’s funny how women at this hour aren’t surprised with what’s been happening. we’re annoyed & disgusted, yes but can you see how objectification & rape culture is being normalised in such ways? we women have always been subjected to such fuckery, always. #boyslockerroom

Their acts are masked as “mistakes” and not viewed as a violation of someone else’s rights & privacy. #boyslockerroom (4/4) pic.twitter.com/dlygK9NW8C

At IFORHER, we are not only heartbroken but also saddened by how our society has reached the new lows. With increasing crime against women & kids, it is an ugly reality how our young boys feel about rape.
As a parent, if you don’t find it alarming or feel it’s just a mistake, then you are also part of the problem.
