As we are battling against Coronavirus, no one could deny the dire need of humans to unite and stand together in this hour of need. But sadly some selfish souls are stopping low and indulging into inhumane activities.
Recently, the resident doctors of AIIMS shared how their colleagues are being mistreated by their landlords. These home-owners fear that medical professionals could be infected with the virus. These doctors, who are at the forefront of the fight against the novel coronavirus, were forcibly evicted by their landlords.

Post this, the Resident Doctors Association wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah expressing their disappointment on how many staffers were “stranded on roads” with all their luggage. It also requested Shah to immediately release an order prohibiting landlords from evicting the healthcare professionals working tirelessly against the virus from their rented houses.
Without wasting any time, the government today gave power to zonal Deputy Commissioners to take “strict penal action” against these landlords.
As per the government notification, such shameful acts “not only strike at the root of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic but also tantamount to obstruction of duty of essential services”.
Invoking the Delhi Epidemics Diseases, Covid-19 Regulations, the notification said the district magistrates, zonal deputy commissioners of municipal corporations and the deputy commissioner of police are “directed to take strict penal action against such landlords and house owners under the relevant provisions of law”.
While these officials have also been asked to submit their Action Taken Report on a daily basis, it is heartbreaking to see how these brave souls, who are risking their lives, are being harassed and discriminated by the society.
At IFORHER, we applaud the selfless services of healthcare professionals in these critical times. We also request you to stand with these real heroes and their family members as they battle against the virus to protect you and your family.
