Recently, a  Bengaluru woman reported a sexual harassment complaint against Swiggy’s delivery boy.

But, what shocked us how Swiggy handled the critical complaint.

Without understanding the consequences of its action, Swiggy sent a sorry note along with Rs. 200 coupon to the woman who filed the complaint.

The casual approach of sending a sorry note and Rs. 200 coupon, prompted the woman to demand action against the alleged abuser.

She wanted Swiggy to do more than just mere apology & a food coupon and we feel Swiggy should definitely remember this lesson for the next time.

So, What Happened?

As per TOI, the woman posted on Facebook that she had ordered food from Swiggy on Thursday.

When the delivery boy arrived, he said something that the woman couldn’t understand clearly. As he repeated it, she got to know that the boy was abusing her and was asking for sexual favors.

The woman shared with TOI,

“I was taken aback… had to literally snatch my food package from him and shut my door on his face. I was…disgusted to let alone ear but to even look at the food…”

Disgusted by the incident, the woman made a complaint to the customer service and she was ridiculously compensated by Rs. 200 coupon and a “Sorry”.

As per TOI, Swiggy authorities apologized to the woman for her unpleasant experience and did ask for more details for further action.

While we were disgusted how irresponsibly Swiggy handled this critical complaint, the news of an American Woman suing Uber for $10 million as the driver sexually assaulted her.

We think it is high time that companies start taking responsibilities for their employees’ careless behavior.

We feel these brands can do much more than just apologizing or sending coupons or firing an individual.
