Recently, a daughter refused to shed even a tear on her father’s death. And, the reason will touch your heart and leave you teary eyed. Dr. Shraddha Bindroo, daughter of Makhan Lala Bindroo, who was shot dead by terrorists, refused to bid a teary-eyed final goodbye to her father.
Makhan Lala Bindroo, 70, who lived fearlessly and refused to leave Srinagar even at the peak of militancy in the 1990s, was killed in Srinagar in a series of terror attacks on Tuesday. He was inside his shop – Bindroo Medicate pharmacy in Srinagar’s Iqbal Park – when he was shot at close range.
While his family grieved, his daughter’s inspiring words have left many teary-eyed and inspired. As per sources, Dr Shraddha Bindroo said she would keep a smile on as her father lived and died like a warrior.
“His words were ‘I will die with my shoes on’. I am so proud he died with his shoes on. Today my father no more, still I have a smiling face. Because I know my father was a warrior. He was a winner. He is going like a warrior man… I am not going to shed tears. That will be like a tribute to those gunmen,” she told NDTV, speaking over the sound of weeping family members and neighbours.”Let’s pay tribute to that Makhan Lal Bindroo who was a gem of a human being… a hardworking man. Salute to him…Really salute to him…”
Shraddha further added how her father had taught her to live without fear. “Why do we fear anything? They say fearlessness is life. Fear is death…I used to ask my father, ‘don’t you get afraid?’ He said – ‘If I live in fear, then I will die every day. If I die, it will only be once’,”
Shraddha said she wanted to tell her father’s killers to “channelize your energies on positive aspects”. Shraddha’s inspiring words have gone viral and people are applauding her courage and determination. In the video, she could be heard saying:
“I am an associate professor, I started from zero. My father started from his bicycle. My brother is a famous diabetologist, my mother runs a shop… This is what Makhan Lal Bindoo made us,” she said. “A Kashmiri Pandit, he will never die, You just killed the body. I being Hindu, I have read the Quran and the Quran says that only the body dies, the soul remains intact. Makhan Lal Bindroo is alive in spirit.”
“Mister, who shot my father dead while he was working, if you have the guts and courage, come and have a face-to-face debate with us. Then we will see what you are. You won’t be able to utter a word. All you can do is throw stones, and shoot bullets from behind.”
Shraddha added: “He (Bindroo) gave us education, and their parents gave them stones, pellets and bullets… Kashmiri Pandits gave their children education, they are spread all over the world… Padhai likhai karo, tabhi uthoge (when you study, only then can you progress)… Nothing is going to come out of stone-pelting. May Allah give you good thinking”.
68-year-old Bindroo, the owner of Bindroo Medicate, was shot at by the assailants from point-blank range while he was at his pharmacy, dispensing medicines. Here’s the video of his daughter sharing the details about her father and his death:

Just passed by his pharmacy on 29th September and saw the overcrowded shop. He was popular across communities but was still targeted. The cowardice of the act and it’s perpetrators is obvious. It’s the failure of the #Kashmir policy of the GOI and UT government. Heads must roll.
