While the whole world is struggling with the Coronavirus pandemic, a man brutally assaulted his wife and mother who asked him to wear a mask.
The Indian authorities have made it mandatory for its citizens to wear masks in public places. In Gurugram, Haryana, the administration announced that strict action would be taken against people not wearing a mask.
But, a shocking incident took place in the town of Farukh Nagar in Gurgaon that left many shocked and shattered.
Last Friday, April 10, 2020, a husband was arrested for beating his wife and mother as he carried out the double assault after the wife told him to wear a face mask.
So What Happened?
When Rajbir, the husband planned to go out, his wife told him to wear a mask to take precautions amid Coronavirus pandemic. But, rather than paying heed to his wife’s advice, the husband became angry and started beating her.
When he complained to his mother, she agreed with her daughter-in-law. The husband not only hit his mother but also threw his wife out of the house.
Standing for herself and her mother-in-law, this brave wife filed a police complaint against her husband.
As per sources, the 30-year-old victim shared that her husband Rajbir was going out to open his hotel despite the lockdown. And, when he was leaving, the woman told him to wear a mask as a precaution. When he did not like her suggestion, he started beating her.
According to the victim, the husband threatened to kill her and told her that the police would not take action against him because he gave them monthly payments.
When the victim told the police of her ordeal, a case was registered against Rajbir. Though the station in-charge confirmed that Rajbir was arrested, we are heartbroken with the increasing domestic violence against women in India.
Recently, in Pitampura, Delhi, amid lockdown, an educated couple had a verbal argument, which turned into domestic abuse after the husband slapped the wife. A similar incident happened in Bihar.
In order to handle the increasing cases of domestic violence during the coronavirus lockdown period, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has launched a WhatsApp number to report cases of domestic violence.
@NCWIndia have launched a ‘WHATSAPP NUMBER’ for help & assistance to women experiencing #DomesticViolence at wake of #Covid19Lockdown.

It is heartbreaking to see how lockdown has hit women with abuse, overwork, and pain. In tough times like these, it is sad and depressing how women are facing the ugly face of our patriarchal society.
