In the midst of lockdown, there is a rampant increase in cases of domestic violence. While many are struggling with the abuse, Kartik Aryan has come up with a misogynistic video that shows exactly what is wrong with our society.
In the name of humor, Kartik Aryan recently posted a TikTok video on his Instagram. In this now-deleted video, Kartik Aaryan swings his sister from her braids, and throws her from the balcony, ‘because he did not like the roti she made.
He captioned this disgusting video as, “No compromise on food quality.”

As Domestic violence has been on a rise, it is not the subject to be made fun of. In fact, domestic abuse should never be joked about – because if you do, you are diminishing the seriousness of the offense. This video is not just in bad taste, but also promotes a regressive ideology.
This video is misogynistic at multiple levels. But what made disgusted us the most is how someone could make fun of such an important topic – domestic violence.

It is heartbreaking how Kartik Aaryan, whose fan base includes teenagers and young adults, showed insensitive towards such an important issue. We expect Kartik to be a bit aware of the kind of message he is spreading in the name of humor.
Because Violence against women is not funny. It never was. It never should be.
