In the times, when the whole world is under lockdown, the Malaysian government has shared a disgusting piece of advice to its women, who are in lockdown with their partners. What is more shocking is the fact that these tips were issued in relation to news of increasing cases of domestic violence in the country.
Though this post has been withdrawn by the Malaysian Government after the backlash, here are the issued guidelines.
#1. Dress up and avoid wearing home clothes.
Avoid wearing home clothes. Dress up, as usual, put on make-up and dress neatly.
Malaysia has tips for women staying at home with their husbands during quarantine:
• DON’T Nag Your Husband
• DON’T Be Sarcastic• DO Wear Makeup
• DO Dress Uphttps://t.co/daY0fynQxe— Washington Examiner (@dcexaminer) April 1, 2020
#2. Avoid Nagging your husband
If you see your husband carry out a task in a manner that clashes with your own method, avoid nagging.
Malaysia’s government is facing backlash for an online campaign that advised women not to nag their husbands during the nation’s partial lockdown.
It also advised women to refrain from being “sarcastic” if they asked for help with chores.https://t.co/jsOHhYEoa2

The Malaysian government tells women working from home to wear makeup, don’t use sarcastic tones with husbands. This was sent out via their fb&twitter pages with cutesy pictures to appear like a totally regular, ol’ infographic to spread awarenesshttps://t.co/nhqtW9cplt

The fact the Malaysian government specifically offered advice to wives on how they should ‘behave’ is problematic enough. But the “official” tips included:
– Don’t nag your husband.
– Don’t speak in an infantile voice.
– Wear makeup & dress neatly. ???????????? https://t.co/FurfUFQ9bX— Georgie Dent (@georgiedent) April 1, 2020
Malaysian government is urging women that while at home during this lock down to dress up, look nice and not to be sarcastic to their husband’s if they need help in the house. ????????????????????

And finally, something totally bizarre.
#3. Try and talk like Doraemon
With a ‘coy, feminine laugh’.
A week after the women’s welfare ministry in Malaysia closed down a domestic violence hotline, it asked women to *looks at notes, takes a deep breath*
WEAR MAKEUP AT HOME AND TALK LIKE A CARTOON CAT TO AVOID ANNOYING THEIR HUSBANDS. https://t.co/m2mp4GOvuW

‘Don’t nag’ and ‘wear make-up’ are things told to women for centuries now, but the Doraemon thing has to be a first.
In today’s episode of ‘what non-existent thing are women’, we are cartoons. Congratulations.
Also, for the record, Doraemon speaks like this:
Is this for real??!! Like this is cartoonishly crazy

These tips are not only disgusting but demeaning for all women. In the times, when we are busy urging Indian husbands to support their wives during the lockdown, here is a government that is treating women as second class citizens. What a Shame!
