Even though we live in the 21st century, it is sad how many men believe that it’s their birthright to pass judgments or give unsolicited advice to women on how to dress. Our patriarchal society still feels that men have a right to control women and their choices, even if that choice is about their clothes. The men of today, still struggle to accept that women have the right to wear what they want. And, women owe men no explanation.
Recently, we stumbled over a thread where an Indian man posted a picture of Nimrat Kaur questioning her outfit that made her cleavage visible. He dared to post the most ridiculous question of the era – Why do women wear cleavage-revealing clothes? And whether it is to attract men!
In his regressive Twitter post, the user @Retartedhurt said: “Ladies, I really want to know What purpose does such outfits exactly serve, If it is to attract men, then why? If not to attract men, then why? It’s a very genuine question and no bait, please tell me what is the actual purpose to show cleavage?”

The regressive post left many netizens disgusted and disappointed. Many netizens came forward to slam this netizen for such a regressive mindset.
Gents, i really want to know what purpose does such outfits exactly serve, oh wait i forgot he is shirtless, if it is to attract women, then why? If not to attract women, then why? Plz tell me what is actual purpose to show body??? pic.twitter.com/hCEWVGqrGt
Any one can wear whatever they want to. One wants to show cleavage they can. Even women who wear sarees… their cleavage is also visible. Actual purpose is to exercise choice. She is wearing a corset here.
She likes that outfit, she wears it! 🤷🏻♀️ Not everything has a purpose or a logoc behind it. You don’t have the right to question any women or any person for that matter, on the clothes they wear. It’s none of your buisness.
Yeh toh depend karta hai aap dekh kis way me rahe hain.. Mujhe toh normal human body hi nazar aa rhi.. Aapne socha cleavage hai tb aage thoughts proceed honge ki allure kr rhi ya entice krne ke liye pehn rahi.. Doctors agar aisa sochenge toh operate nhi kr paaenge patients ko..
It is quite disgusting how even in the 21st century, men expect women to justify their choices of clothes. The tweets like these make us wonder – Is this how our 21st-century modern civilized progressive men think? What’s your take on this Twitter thread? Tell us in the comments below.
