Even though it is 21st century, still many Indian parents tend to control their kids and their life choices. From choosing their career to selecting their brides, some Indian parents leave no chance in letting their kids know that they owe their life to their parents.
Recently, one such video went viral, where a groom’s mother beat him with a slipper while he was in the middle of getting married. The reason behind her aggression was the fact that she disliked the bride.
As per sources, the incident happened in Bharuwa Sumerpur village of Hamirpur district in Uttar Pradesh, where the jaimala ceremony during the wedding was underway. Suddenly, the groom’s mother climbed to the wedding stage and took off her slippers. She started hitting the groom in front of all the wedding guests. Initially, everyone was shocked and couldn’t understand the reason behind the groom’s mother’s erratic behaviour. Later, it was reported that she was unhappy with her son because he married a girl from another caste against the family’s wishes.
The groom tied the knot with the girl in court and since then they were living as husband and wife. But, after the court marriage, the bride’s father decided to celebrate the wedding. He threw a party at a district hall but didn’t invite the groom’s family as they were against the marriage. But, when the groom’s family came to know about this wedding ceremony, the groom’s mother reached the marriage venue and hit her son on stage.
While many are finding this incident hilarious, but this is the ugly reminder of prevalent castism and controlling parents.
