2025 has officially turned into The Year of Akshaye Khanna! With two of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of the year – Chhava and Dhurandhar – Akshaye has taken over the box office, the internet, and the audience’s hearts. His electrifying performance as Rahman Dakait in Dhurandhar has transformed him into a social-media obsession, with fans celebrating his swag, menace, and charm in equal measure. And as he finally receives the long-overdue stardom he deserves, here’s a look at Akshaye Khanna upcoming movies – each film bigger and more exciting than the last.
Akshaye Khanna Upcoming Movies
1. Dhurandhar 2
Rahman Dakait’s journey may have concluded in Dhurandhar, but the sequel isn’t shutting the door on him just yet. Strong buzz suggests Akshaye could return through intense flashback sequences that explore his rise, motives, and connections—giving fans more of the character they adored.
The film has wrapped shoot and is gearing up for an Eid 2026 (March 19) theatrical release.
With a heavyweight cast including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun, this Aditya Dhar sequel will collide head-on with Yash’s Toxic, making it one of the biggest box-office battles of 2026.
2. Mahakali
Akshaye Khanna’s grand entry into Telugu cinema comes with the mytho-superhero epic Mahakali. Playing the powerful and complex Asuraguru Shukracharya, Akshaye gets one of the most intriguing characters in the entire PVCU (Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe).
His first-look poster already broke the internet – sporting a fierce, mystical aura that fans couldn’t get enough of. The character is expected to have a deep philosophical arc, intense mythological grounding, and heavy VFX-driven sequences, making it one of Akshaye’s most ambitious roles yet.
Directed by Puja Kolluru and produced by RKD Studios, Mahakali will release in multiple languages including Hindi. While an official date is awaited, the film is likely to arrive in 2026, and industry insiders believe it could shape the future of India’s superhero universe.
3. Ikka
If you loved Akshaye Khanna in darker, antagonistic shades, Ikka is about to be your new obsession. Co-starring Sunny Deol, this intense action thriller reportedly casts Akshaye as the chief antagonist, a role that channels his trademark sophistication with ruthless unpredictability.
Directed by Maharaj fame Siddharth P. Malhotra, the film explores themes of power, revenge, and deception, with Akshaye’s character said to have one of the sharpest-written villain arcs in recent OTT cinema.
The stellar cast – Dia Mirza, Tillotama Shome, and Sanjeeda Shaikh—adds even more depth to the story. Currently in production, Ikka is targeting a direct-to-Netflix premiere, making it one of the platform’s most-anticipated Indian originals.
4. Drishyam 3
The Drishyam franchise owes much of its tension and thrill to the cat-and-mouse game between Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna. His portrayal of IG Tarun Ahlawat in Drishyam 2 was widely praised for its intensity, intelligence, and understated power.
Now, in Drishyam 3, Tarun Ahlawat returns – and this time, the stakes are even higher. The third part is expected to dig deeper into Tarun’s investigation strategies, his personal motivations, and his battle to finally corner the Salgaonkar family. Early rumours suggest that Akshaye’s screen time will be significantly higher, with the character getting a more emotionally layered arc.
The film is slated for a Gandhi Jayanti 2026 release in cinemas, and though it hasn’t gone on floors yet, the anticipation is sky-high.
