Crew Girl has only just arrived on Netflix, but Season 1 certainly doesn’t end like a story that has nothing left to say.
Teagan Tao may have helped Easton return to the podium, but her future is suddenly more complicated than ever. There is a new girls’ rowing team waiting in the wings, Cam has stepped into a bigger position on the boys’ crew, Josh is facing life after heart surgery, and several relationships are nowhere close to being settled.
So, will there be a Crew Girl Season 2? For now, Netflix hasn’t announced another season. But if the series returns, Season 1 has already created plenty of directions for the story to take next.
Here’s what we know — and what the ending could realistically be setting up.
Has Netflix Renewed Crew Girl For Season 2?
As of September 12, 2026, Crew Girl Season 2 has not been officially confirmed by Netflix. That is hardly surprising considering how new the series is, with the eight-episode first season premiering on September 10.
For now, Crew Girl sits in the waiting stage: it hasn’t been renewed, but it hasn’t been cancelled either. And from a storytelling perspective, the finale leaves the door wide open.
A Girls’ Crew Could Become The Biggest Story Of Season 2
The most interesting Season 2 setup may have nothing to do with Teagan choosing between two boys. Easton is finally getting a girls’ rowing team, and that changes everything for Teagan.
Miku Martineau’s character arrived at Easton as a talented single sculler before circumstances pushed her into becoming coxswain for the boys. Over the season, she becomes emotionally attached to that crew, but it was never necessarily where she imagined her own rowing career heading.
Now she may have another option. Joining the girls’ team could allow Teagan to start competing more directly for herself instead of guiding somebody else’s boat, while staying with the boys would mean remaining with the team she fought so hard to bring together.
That feels like far more than a side plot. It could become the central decision of another season.
Britney Could Go From Romantic Rival To Teagan’s Biggest Rowing Rival
The new team would also give Britney a very different role. Played by Sage Linder, Britney spends much of Season 1 tangled up in the relationship drama surrounding Josh and Teagan, but by the finale she starts creating something of her own by helping bring a girls’ boat to Easton.
If Teagan joins it, their dynamic could change completely. Instead of simply competing over relationships, they could be fighting for position, influence and success on the water — or they might discover they work surprisingly well together.
Either way, a girls’ team immediately gives Crew Girl a fresh sporting storyline instead of simply repeating Season 1.
Josh’s Next Chapter Could Be About Rebuilding His Life, Not Winning Teagan
Josh probably enters a potential Season 2 with more to figure out than almost anyone. Sam Braun’s character spends much of the first season trying to protect an image: talented rower, privileged heir and confident team leader.
Then his heart condition takes away much of the certainty underneath that identity. Josh discovers that he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, eventually undergoes heart surgery and ends the season without a clear answer about whether competitive rowing can remain part of his life.
Rather than immediately pushing Josh back into another battle for Teagan, Season 2 could force him to deal with who he is when rowing, family expectations and his carefully constructed reputation no longer define him.
There is also damage to repair. Josh makes several questionable choices while desperately trying to keep his secret, including sabotaging the team’s oar, so another season could give him something more meaningful than another romance plot: a genuine redemption story.
Cam Finally Has What He Wanted — And That Could Become A Problem
Cam’s Season 1 journey also ends at an interesting point. Kyle Clark’s character spends much of the season feeling overlooked, but by the finale he finally takes the stroke seat.
That’s a victory, but it could also bring an entirely new kind of pressure. Cam now has to prove he can handle being one of the most important rowers in the boat, and the insecurity that previously came from feeling like an outsider may be replaced by the fear of losing the position he worked so hard to earn.
His relationship with Teagan could complicate that even further. They kiss near the end of the season, but the finale stops well short of promising them an uncomplicated relationship.
So Cam could begin another season on top — and quickly discover that staying there is harder than getting there.
Season 2 Doesn’t Need To Be Another Simple Cam-Josh Competition
Season 1 obviously leaves romantic questions unresolved. Teagan kisses Cam, while Josh still appears to have an emotional connection with her.
But repeating eight more episodes of two boys competing for Teagan would risk making the story feel stuck. A stronger Season 2 could use those relationships differently.
Cam and Teagan could actually try being together and discover whether their connection works outside the chaos that brought them together. Josh, meanwhile, could step back long enough to become a more complete character before the show decides whether there is still something between him and Teagan.
And Teagan herself has bigger decisions to make. Her next chapter can be about rowing, identity, ambition and figuring out what she wants now that her life is no longer simply in survival mode.
What Happens To The Boys’ Crew Without Teagan At Its Center?
There is another question the finale quietly creates: what happens if Teagan chooses the girls’ team? The boys spend much of Season 1 learning how to function with Teagan as their coxswain, and she becomes the person capable of challenging their egos and forcing them to operate like an actual unit.
Removing her could change the entire balance of the boat. Cam would have more responsibility from the stroke seat, Ryder’s competitiveness could again cause trouble, while Baloo, Noah and the rest of the crew would need to prove that the unity they found at the Haverford Cup wasn’t temporary.
Connor Paton plays Ryder, Jude Wilson plays Baloo, Vincent Muller plays Damon and Riley Davis plays Noah. Rather than simply reproducing Season 1’s team drama, another season could ask whether Easton can succeed without Teagan constantly holding everyone together.
Coach Hayden Still Has Unfinished Business At Easton
Coach Hayden’s firing also feels deliberately unresolved. Thomas Cadrot’s character takes responsibility after allowing Teagan and Cam to compete at the Haverford Cup despite the controversy surrounding the tampered erg, and that decision costs him his job.
But removing Coach Hayden from the school doesn’t necessarily mean removing him from the story. If the rowing program struggles without him — or if Teagan and the crew fight to bring him back — his dismissal could become another important Season 2 storyline.
Juliet’s Family Story Is Another Thread Season 2 Could Pick Up
Not every unfinished storyline revolves around rowing. Juliet also reaches the end of Season 1 with her family situation still developing, leaving another thread the series could expand if it returns.
Olga Petsa could therefore have considerably more to do in another season rather than remaining mainly on the edges of Teagan’s Easton story. Expanding characters like Juliet would also allow Crew Girl to widen its world beyond the central boat and romance drama.
A New Girls’ Team Could Also Bring New Characters
The creation of Easton’s girls’ boat gives the writers an easy way to expand the cast organically. Britney cannot row the boat alone, which means a second season could introduce several new students into Teagan’s world.
There could be experienced rowers challenging her, complete beginners who don’t fit Easton’s elite culture, or even someone capable of becoming Teagan’s biggest athletic rival. It could also create competition between Easton’s boys’ and girls’ programs for resources, attention and school support.
When Could Crew Girl Season 2 Actually Be Released?
There is currently no official Crew Girl Season 2 release date, and any date being discussed before Netflix announces a renewal should be treated as an estimate.
Netflix first has to make a renewal decision. After that would come writing, scheduling the cast and locations, preparing the rowing sequences, filming and post-production before another season could be ready to stream.
That makes a 2026 return impossible and an early 2027 premiere extremely unlikely. If Netflix renews Crew Girl relatively soon, late 2027 could be a plausible earliest window, while a longer development or production schedule could push the series into 2028.
