In the midst of #MeToo Stories, there have been many of our Bollywood Heroes, who have taken an easy road to stay quiet.
When the people whom we celebrated to safeguard the honor of women on silver screen, opted to stay quiet in real life when the women were abused – they not only disgusted us but made us felt cheated. We realized that there was nothing heroic about them.
But, there were a few good men in Bollywood, who chose to break their silence and took actions to show their solidarity to the victims.
#1. Akshay Kumar
After hearing the tales of sexual harassment shared by three women – actor Rachel White, assistant director Saloni Chopra and journalist Karishma Upadhyay – against Sajid Khan, Akshay Kumar has canceled the shoot of Housefull 4, which was being directed by Sajid Khan.
Housefull 4 also involved another actor – Nana Patekar, who has also been accused of sexual harassment by Tanushree Dutta.

“Akshay is known to be a disciplinarian and has never canceled a shoot in his 28-year career. This is the first time that he has decided to cancel a shoot, perhaps because the #Metoo movement just cannot be ignored. The allegations made against Sajid Khan and Nana Patekar are both serious and grave in nature”
Unlike many others, Akshay Kumar has made it clear that he would show zero tolerance to the people accused of sexual abuse. He has informed the producers and kept his foot down that he will not work with the accused until investigations are over since the accusations are very serious and grave in nature.

Meanwhile, Sajid Khan has officially stepped down as the film’s director.

#2: Aamir Khan
A few weeks ago, when Aamir was asked about Tanushree allegations, Aamir answered the question while maintaining his diplomacy on the matter.
But recently, Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao have also decided to “step away” from a film. They issued a statement on Twitter, in which it was stated that their production company Aamir Khan Productions has a “zero tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct and predatory behavior of any kind.”

Though Aamir hasn’t taken any name, it is assumed that he was referring to the Gulshan Kumar biopic, which was supposed to be directed by Subhash Kapoor. Subhash has been accused of molestation by actress Geetika Tyagi back in 2014, according to an IANS report.
#3. Emraan Hashmi
Actor-turned-producer Emraan Hashmi has also come out in support of the movement.
Emraan took to Twitter to release the statement and said,
“Sexual harassment can not and should not be tolerated anymore. The guidelines need to be in place. We at EHF [Emraan Hashmi Films] have taken a step to include the right clauses in our contracts where any gross misconduct of this nature will be looked into as a legal violation. These are baby steps but we need to start somewhere.”

Though many stars have tried to show their support to the movement, hardly any corrective actions have been taken to avoid these situations in the future.
It is not only about the campaign or about the stories, but it is also about the movement; it is about the change.
