In the middle of the saddening news of how India’s Betis are not safe in the country, people like Jagbir Singh Rana bring hope for mankind.

It would have been a tragic end for three women, who were crossing the railway track near Azadpur if Jagbir Singh Rana – an RPF constable – had not come to their rescue.

In an inspiring act, Jagbir Singh Rana saved three women from being crushed under a speeding Kalka Shatabdi Express by sacrificing his own life.

As per TOI, the women would have lost their lives if Rana would not have pushed them away from the line.

The brave 51-year-old died on the spot as he was hit by the train.

Around 9:45 pm, Rana was patrolling along the track along with other constables who have been deployed in congested areas to prevent snatching and robbery incidents.

When Shatabdi was arriving at high speed on the track, Rana allegedly spotted the women crossing the line.

In an attempt to save them, Rana started running towards them. He kept shouting at them and asked them to stop. But, as the train was honking constantly, it prevented women from hearing Rana’s shouts.

As per TimesNow, the three women were allegedly under the impression that the train was coming on the adjacent track.

The deceased eventually pushed the women away from the train.

According to the Times of India’s report, the women informed the RPF control room at the Azadpur station. By the time the teams of Government Railway Police (GRP) and the RPF reached the spot, Rana had died.

His body was recovered and he was later handed over to his wife and his two children.

While his family is understandably in shock, they have chosen to donate his eyes before taking the body to their village for the last rites.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Rana’s son Rohit, said,

“My father worked day and night patrolling the railway tracks. The RPF and Northern Railways officials gave him utmost respect during his funeral. We donated his eyes as [they] will help another person.”

The internet mourned the death of this brave man and applauded his courage, strength, and bravery!
