Internet Celebrates How Farmer’s Daughter Secured 100% Scholarship At Harvard University

In another inspiring moment, Seema Kumari from Jharkhand secured a full scholarship to the Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Recently, the inspiring story of Seema, who belongs to a small village named Dahu in Ormanjhi, Jharkhand, went viral on the internet for the right reasons.

Seema is the first woman in her family to attend university.

Seema’s parents never got a chance to be educated. For living, they rely on subsistence farming. Seema’s father also works at a thread factory to provide for the family.

In 2012, Seema joined the Yuwa school in Jharkhand. To pay her school fees, she started working as a Football coach. This brave real hero fought against child marriage and defended her right to an education to fulfill her dreams.

And, now Seema has achieved another milestone. She has reserved herself a spot in Harvard – one of the best universities in the world. She achieved this great milestone despite it being an extremely competitive year due to a high number of applicants.

Seema is yet to decide on her majors but she has a very clear vision about her future goals. She hopes to bring gender equality to her community. She said:

“Gender equality is essential to reduce injustices against women like gender discrimination, domestic violence, child marriage, etc.”

Additionally, Seema wants to start an organization for women in her village to train them to be financially independent. Through her organization, she wants to help these women start small businesses.

She also wishes to build a big network to educate women about their rights by providing them the right kind of knowledge.
