94-YO Dadi Scripts History As She Wins 3 Medals For India In Finland

Dreams know no age. They just know determination, hard work and persistence. And, recently, we stumbled over one such story of determination. At age of 94, Indian sprinter Bhagwani Devi won the gold medal in the 100-meter sprint at the World Masters Athletics Championships held at Tampere.

The super athlete, Bhagwani Devi, won gold with her exemplary timing of 24.74 seconds. And, not just that. Bhagwani also brought another medal home. She won a bronze medal in the shot put.

Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports recently tweeted about her achievements. In the tweet, the department mentioned: “India’s 94-year-old #BhagwaniDevi Ji has proved that age is no bar! She won a GOLD medal at the #WorldMastersAthleticsChampionships in Tampere in the 100m sprint event with 24.74 seconds. She also bagged a BRONZE in Shot put. Truly commendable effort”

For the unversed, the Tampere World Masters Athletics Championships were held from June 29 to July 10. Equivalent to the world championship, this event is for athletes aged 35 and over. 

The whole internet came forward to celebrate Bhagwani Devi’s determination and persistence. Many netizens applauded her courage and spirit.
