In our country, we fail to celebrate real heroes who stand for the common man against the rich and powerful. More often than not, these heroes are shamed and punished for fulfilling their responsibilities. One such hero is Sunita Yadav.

Sunita Yadav has recently been hailed by netizens as a HERO for standing tall against the state minister’s son. This brave cop stopped the state minister’s son and his friends for breaking night curfew rules and not wearing masks at her checkpoint. In return, she was threatened by the MLA’s son. But when she hardly got any support from her own police system to execute her duties, this fed-up woman constable resigned.

So What Happened?

Life changed for this woman constable when she stopped a state minister’s son and his friends when she found them breaking night curfew rules and not wearing masks at her checkpoint. When she questioned the MLA’s son, she was threatened for doing her duty.

The incident came to light when an audio clip of men confronting the constable went viral online. In the audio clip of the heated discussion, Gujarat Health Minister Kumar Kanani’s son Prakash can be heard arguing with the woman cop Sunita Yadav and bragging about his power.

As per India Today, in the audio, these men told the women constable that they had the power to make her stand at the same place for 365 days. The constable shouts back that she is not their slave or a servant of their fathers that they can make her stand there for 365 days.

Following which, Sunita Yadav also called up her superior, who tried to sweep the matter under the rug and asked her to leave the spot.

She called up her superior officer to inform that she has stopped five men, who were roaming around in a car without wearing masks after 10 pm breaking the curfew enforced in view of coronavirus. These men, then called Prakash, the son of MLA Kanani. When Prakash arrived on the spot, they threatened and abused her.

This frustrated Sunita so much that she resigned from her position of constable.

The incident allegedly took place around 10.30pm at Mangadh Chowk in Surat on Wednesday night, said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) PL Chaudhary.

“The audio clip came to the notice of Surat Police Commissioner (R B Brahmbhatt). He has asked ACP (A-Division) CK Patel to conduct an inquiry. Action will be taken based on the inquiry report,” Chaudhary said.

Though an inquiry is still underway, many netizens took to Twitter to hail her as a REAL SINGHAM!

At IFORHER, we are in awe of this inspiring lady. It is heartbreaking how this CORONAWARRIOR is risking her life to keep us safe, and rather than applauding her determination to stay true to her duty, she was shamed and harassed.
