Hailing from Bihar, Anjali has joined the Indian Embassy in Moscow as the Deputy Air Attache.

An air attache represents the chief of the home air force in the foreign country where he or she serves.

While sharing the great news in the tweet, the embassy shared in the tweet:

“Wing Commander Anjali Singh joined @IndEmbMoscow on 10th Sep as the Deputy Air Attache. She enjoys the distinction of being the first female Indian Armed Forces Officer to be posted as a military diplomat in any of the Indian missions abroad.”

With 17 years of experience, Singh is also an aeronautical engineer trained on MiG-29 fighter aircraft.

As per Times of India, an official shared:

“Though women officers and doctors have represented India abroad in UN and other assignments, this is the first time a woman has been posted as a defence attaché. Though Wing Commander Anjali will be deputy to the Indian air attaché (an Air Commodore) in Moscow, DAs act as the main interface with the host country’s military authorities, while also assisting in security and protocol tasks as well as keeping an eye on the military technology available.”

India has over 100 defense attachés or advisers (DAs) posted in different countries across the world, but Anjali is India’s first female military diplomat.

At I FOR HER, we congratulate Anjali for breaking the glass ceiling and wish her luck for future endeavors.
