Women Power Creates History: Manu Bhaker & Elavenil Win Gold Medals At Shooting World Cup

Once again our young shooting sensations have given the country a reason to celebrate. Manu Bhaker and Elavenil Valarivan shot down gold medals in their respective events to create a historic day for Indian shooters in the ISSF World Cup.

Manu Bhaker scripted history at 2019 ISSF World Cup as she bagged India’s first gold medal at the tournament this year in Women’s 10m Air Pistol on Thursday. She not only won the gold but also broke the junior world record with her total of 244.7.

In addition to breaking the world record, Manu Bhaker has also added one more important feather to her cap. Manu has also become only the second Indian shooter after Heena Sidhu to win a gold medal Women’s 10m Air Pistol at the ISS World Cup.

Commonwealth Games gold-medallist Manu and Rahi Sarnobat failed to qualify for the finals of the women’s 25m air pistol event, but Manu has shown the world that no failure can break her spirit.

Along with Manu Bhaker, Elavenil Valarivan shot a score of 250.8 to clinch a gold medal for India in Women’s 10m Air Rifle competition.
