Recently, a social media debate on Kantara vs. Tumbbad left the internet divided. The debate on Kantara Vs Tumbbad was initiated on social media when Tumbbad creative director Anand Gandhi, said that Kantara celebrates ‘toxic masculinity while his period horror movie – Tumbbad is the very opposite of that.

Anand Gandhi’s controversial tweet on Kantara Vs. Tumbbad

Since the day of its release, Kantara has been compared with the 2018 release Tumbbad. While both movies are based on folk tales, Tumbbad’s creative director has shared his views about the comparison. Anand Gandhi recently wrote on social media, “Kantara is nothing like Tumbbad. My idea behind Tumbbad was to use the horror as an allegory of toxic masculinity and parochialism. Kantara is a celebration of these (sic).”

In no time, Gandhi’s tweet went viral. Many netizens came forward to share their views about  Kantara and Tumbbad. While some mentioned that Tumbbad is a better movie, many shared that Kantara was actually a better one.
