After 17 years since the iconic ‘Chak De! India,’ a pinnacle of sports films in India, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Maidaan’ is ready to hit theaters. Many claim that ‘Maidaan’ is on par with ‘Chak De! India’ in terms of cinematic experience.
For those unfamiliar, ‘Maidaan,’ starring Ajay Devgn, revolves around the life of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, who was instrumental in India’s win at the 1962 Asia Games. Alongside Ajay, the film features Gajraj Rao as a journalist, Priya Mani as Ajay’s wife, and several fresh faces including Chaitnya Sharma (SlowCheeta) and Madhur Mittal from ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’
The film delves into the dreams, struggles, and achievements of coach Syed Abdul Rahim, known as SA Rahim, who not only faced challenges in forming a strong team but also battled a corrupted football federation, vindictive journalists, and protesters, all to fulfill his dream of putting India on the world map through football.
